Iraqi warplane accidentally bombs Baghdad

An Iraqi warplane has accidentally dropped a bomb over a residential area of Baghdad after it experienced mechanical failure, according to the country’s defence ministry.
Officials confirmed to Al Jazeera on Monday that a bomb fell from a Russian-made Sukhoi Su-25 fighter jet, hitting a the New Baghdad neighbourhood of the city and leaving 12 people killed or wounded.
Early reports suggested at least seven of the casualties had been killed.
“One of the bombs became stuck because of a technical problem, and during its [the aircraft’s] return to base it fell on three houses in Baghdad Jadida,” security spokesman Brigadier General Saad Maan said in a statement.
The jet was coming back from a bombing run when the accident occurred, Maan said, according to the AFP news agency.
Iraq received Sukhoi Su-25 jets from Russia and Iran last year as it sought to bolster its fledgling air force to combat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group, which has seized large parts of the country.
The US agreed to sell Iraq 36 F-16 warplanes, but none have been delivered so far.
The first batch of the jets has instead been sent to Arizona, where Iraqi F-16 pilots are training.
One of pilots was killed in a crash during an aerial refuelling exercise at the end of June.

Bayelsa govt’s internet surveillance contractor Hacked

Hacking Team, Bayelsa govt’s internet surveillance contractor, hacked

An Italian digital surveillance firm, Hacking Team, notorious for helping governments spy and clampdown on internet users was Sunday night hacked, and 415GB of its internal data leaked online.
The firm’s Twitter account was also hacked and used to disseminate the leaked torrent files.
Documents released so far by the attackers show that Hacking Team worked with the Bayelsa state Governor, Seriake Dickson, and many other suppressive regimes like Sudan, UAE, Russia, Bahrain and Ethiopia.
The records also showed the security firm had contracts with U.S. government agencies like FBI, the Department of Defense, and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
The project with the Bayelsa state government was within the period of the state’s clampdown on one of its former employees, Tonye Okio, for allegedly criticizing the Bayelsa State governor, Mr. Dickson, on his Facebook page.
It is unclear at this point the exact surveillance task the firm carried out for Bayelsa state government – researchers are still pouring through troves of data leaked by the attacker – but the project status reads that it has expired.
Hacking Team is loathed by digital activists all over the world.
Reporters Without Borders listed the firm on its Enemies of the Internet index due to Hacking Teams’ primary surveillance tool Da Vinci, and its use by oppressive governments to censor the Internet
Embarrassing Passwords
Researchers poring through the trove of data have so far found the leak contains emails of Hack Team’s top employees, including its founder and chief executive, David Vincenzetti.
The data also include information on the company’s customers and examples of how its remote control system can spy on users’ web connections and WhatsApp conversations.
Also included in the leak is also a number of the firms’ internal passwords, which appear to be embarrassingly patterned and weak for a company that deals in exposing others’ security.
A file called login.txt held credentials belonging to Christian Pozzi, security engineer at the firm, and his passwords include easily-crackable variations on the word “password” and the name of an X-Men character all in lower-case and with no numbers or symbols.
The firm’s clients’ passwords were exposed as well, and several documents related to contracts and configurations have been circulating online.
The firm potentially faces trouble with the European Union after the trove revealed that it had continued to maintain a business relationship with Russia and Sudan.
In 2014, Hacking Team vehemently denied it was in bed with the Sudanese government after a Citizen Lab reportrevealed evidence that the firm’s remote control system was being used by Sudan.
Earlier this year, Citizen Lab, based at the University of Toronto, also published a report linking Hacking Team to efforts by the government of Ethiopia to target journalists.
The firm denied both reports but the leaked data show the firm lied in its denials.
Hacking Team is yet to officially comment on the hack, 16 hours after the perceived attacker, Phineas Fisher, announced the attack on Twitter.
One of the company’s employees, whose weak passwords was the butt of several jokes on the attack, Mr. Pozzi, took to Twitter to comment on the attack.
He argued that his company had done nothing illegal.
“The people responsible for this will be arrested,” he said. “We are working with the police at the moment. Don’t believe everything you see. Most of what the attackers are claiming is simply not true…The attackers are spreading a lot of lies about our company that is simply not true.”
He also claimed the massive torrent file had malware in it.  However, other hackers have since discredited his virus claims.
“We simply provide custom software solutions tailored to our customers’ needs,” Mr. Pozi insisted before either deleting or disabling his Twitter account.

Kenyan President signs law legalising polygamy

Kenyan President, Kenyatta, signs controversial law legalising polygamy

President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya has signed into law a controversial marriage bill to legalise polygamy.
The new law amends a civil law, where a man was only allowed one wife and brings it in line with customary law, where some cultures allow multiple partners.
Controversy had surrounded an amendment to the bill, supported by many male lawmakers, allowing men to take more wives without consulting existing spouses, the British Broadcasting Corporation reported.
Under the traditional law, first wives are supposed to give prior approval before a man takes another wife, the report says.
But last month, female lawmakers walked out of the country’s parliament in disgust after their male counterparts voted through the amendment.
They argued that a decision to take on another wife would affect the whole family, including the financial position of other spouses.
The controversial bill was also opposed by Christian leaders who urged Mr. Kenyatta, also a Christian not to sign it into law.
They argued that the amendment would undermine Christian principles of marriage and family.
“The tone of that bill, if it becomes law, would be demeaning to women since it does not respect the principle of equality of spouses in the institution of marriage,” the BBC quoted Archbishop Timothy Ndambuki, as saying.
Mr. Ndambuki belongs to the National Council of Churches of Kenya, NCCK.
The marriage legislation has been under discussion for several years and some initial proposals were scrapped at committee stages.
It has abolished the practice of unofficial traditional marriages which were never registered and could be ended without any legal divorce proceedings.
But plans to ban the payment of bride prices were dropped – although a person must be 18 to marry and this now applies to all cultures.
However, the lawmakers are said to have rejected the amendment which provided that a woman should only be entitled to 30 percent of matrimonial property after death or divorce.
Under the new law, equal property and inheritance rights are guaranteed against the previous law where a woman had to prove her contribution to the couple’s wealth.
The law stipulates that a wife is entitled to an equal share of whatever the couple acquired during their marriage but in the case of multiple partners, it is going to be difficult to determine what each spouse is entitled to if one of them divorces or their husband dies, argued BBC reporter Frenny Jowi.
There had also been a proposal to recognise co-habiting couples, known in Kenya as “come-we-stay” relationships, after six months, but this too was dropped.
It would have allowed a woman to seek maintenance for herself and any children of the union had the man left.

Nigerians will beg PDP to come back in 2019

Nigerians’ll beg PDP to come back in 2019 – Ojougboh

PORT HARCOURT— National Vice Chairman, South-South, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, has decried the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying that Nigerians will beg the PDP to come back in 2019.
Ojougboh, Monday, at the South-South secretariat of the PDP in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said that the APC had shown convincingly that it lacked coordination and ideology.
He said that a committee of the PDP headed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi was at the PDP South-South secretariat to receive memorandum on how the party can rebound ahead of 2019 general elections.
He added that the PDP will not succumb to any form of intimidation to lose its cases at the various election tribunals in the South-South, insisting that the party won freely and fairly in the elections.
“Rivers and Akwa Ibom states tribunals are sitting in Abuja. No amount of intimidation will make the PDP lose the elections it won freely and fairly in those states. Any move to rig us out at the tribunals will be resisted,” he said.
He further reaffirmed the stand of the PDP rejecting the appointment of Hajia Amina Zakari as acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
“We have said that the appointment of Zakari is completely unacceptable to us. The example that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan gave should be followed. We know that she is not apolitical,” he added.
On the crisis of leadership rocking the PDP in Bayelsa State, he said that a committee had been set up to resolve the problem.
Meantime, Senator Markarfi told newsmen that he had received several memoranda from members on how to advance the fortunes of the party.

Next, we need to find out what user is the local administrator for this PC. To do this, type “net localgroup Administrators” and look for any administrator that does NOT have your school/work domain in front of it, followed by a “/.” As you can see, one of the admins is named “qwaszx.” You will probably see a name like this, since schools/workspaces tend to make it a random string of letters and/or numbers to ward off people from entering it.

Now, we need to change that account’s password. Type “net user <ACCOUNT NAME HERE> *” and type the new password twice. It will not show what you’re typing, but your keystrokes are being registered. You can now log in to your admin account! However, schools/workspaces also like to disable the admin account you just changed the password for, so you might not be able to log in. There is a simple fix. If you get that message, go to the extra step below.
